Pro tip - When working on a quilt that is a mystery, use a fabric/color palette that you love. If you love all of the fabrics and the color palette, the chances are you will love the outcome!
Hey there friends, this is Kathryn LeBlanc from Dragonfly’s Quilting Design Studio, Blockofthemo.com and the Designers Quilt Show. Today, I want to share with you and welcome you to an awesome program - quilting Around the Block - US Tour, a collaboration of over 40 talented designers who have come together to engage, inspire and connect with you weekly. Join us on a virtual tour as we zip back and forth around the country. The program is hosted over at www.blockofthemo.com and runs over the course of 52 weeks.
Each week a designer features a new 6 ½” block for a state that they have chosen to represent. Be it where they live, where they vacation or even where they have grown up; they have chosen to present a complimentary block design; along with state facts, stories, memories and other fun tidbits!
With everyone stuck at home and social distancing I wanted to find a meaningful way to connect with more customers. The designers and I hope that you will connect with us as well. While on the journey through the states, we hope you will share your blocks, fabric pulls and stories so we can get to know you as well. Join us over on our Facebook page.
We are currently into Week 28, however the complimentary blocks will be available throughout the entire program. When you explore the complimentary blocks you will find tutorials, videos, how to’s, pattern downloads and sew much more! Links to the designers, for all blocks (Weeks 1 - 28) are available now on the website.
You will find a wide variety of skills and techniques, from traditional piecing to a bit of paper piecing as well as applique and hand embroidery! Some designers will have kits as well.
On Week 1 we kicked off the event with the state of Massachusetts with Dragonfly’s Quilting Design Studio (that’s me!) with the option to hand or machine applique or even hand embroider the block.
Week 13 we headed to Missouri where two designers teamed up to provide Missouri By Day by Louanna Mary Quilt Design & Missouri By Night with Slice of Pi Quilts - a split block where you can grab the designs and kits for both halves of the block!
Week 24 we headed back to the east coast to Rhode Island with Penny Rug Pet Portraits with either a traditionally pieced or a wool applique version of the weekly block.
