Landing Pages Made Simple: 3 Ways to Use ChatGPT to Build a Page in a Day for Quilting Businesses

by Tori McElwain

Building a website can feel like a mountain you’ll never climb. There’s design, copywriting, branding, and tech setup - it’s enough to keep most quilting and crafting business owners stuck in “someday mode.”

But here’s the good news: you don’t need to be tech-savvy to have an effective landing page. And across major platforms like Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, and HubSpot, the research is clear: simple layouts with clear, benefit-driven copy (the words you use) consistently outperform overly designed pages (see sources).

In other words, your message matters more than how fancy your website looks.

With a simple framework and a few well-written prompts, you can create professional, personal landing page copy in a single day, dramatically cutting down time spent on creating your next landing page.

What Is “Website in a Day”?

I refer to Website in a Day a few times in this post. Website in a Day is a framework I teach inside the Back to Basics Challenge, where I help creative business owners build a simple, three-page website that works.

You’ll learn how to create:

  • A Home Page that welcomes visitors

  • A Landing Page that turns interest into action

  • An About & Contact Page that builds trust

And the best part? You can use ChatGPT to help you write your copy faster - without losing your personality.

Before You Start: What You Need to Bring

ChatGPT (or any other chatbot) is powerful, but it only works as well as what you give it. Think of it like a computerized longarm quilting machine - you still need the design, the fabric, the instructions for the program, and the creative vision. Plus, if you're like me, you've also learned the environmental impact of AI and want to limit how many times you prompt a chatbot. So, let's prep first!

Before you open ChatGPT, have these three things ready:

  • Your Ideal Customer Profile – Who you’re talking to, what they care about, and what they want.

  • Your Brand Values & Stories You Want to Use – The personal touches that make your business unique.

  • Your Keywords – The search terms your customers use (e.g., modern quilt patterns, quilting classes near me, longarm quilting services). Learn more about Keywords here.

These three pieces keep ChatGPT grounded, takes less prompting, and makes sure the copy it generates sounds like you - not a robot.

3 Ways to Use ChatGPT to Create a Landing Page Fast

Now let’s get to the fun part - using ChatGPT efficiently so you’re not stuck rewriting the same sections over and over.

1. Create a Clear, Detailed Prompt

Instead of starting from scratch, tell ChatGPT what type of page you’re building and who it’s for.

Try this prompt:

“I’m creating a landing page for my quilting business. My goal for this page is to [insert goal: grow my email list / sell a pattern / promote a class]. [Insert offer details and benefits]. My ideal customer is [describe]. Please create a simple layout with sections for a headline, subheadline, 3 benefit bullets, a call-to-action, and a short about section in a friendly, professional tone.”

This gives ChatGPT structure and context tailored to you and what you are promoting - it won’t just guess what you want.

2. Repurpose What You Already Have

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Copy and paste old captions, emails, or blog posts into ChatGPT and ask it to reshape them for your landing page.

Example prompt:

“Take this social media caption and turn it into the opening paragraph for my landing page. Keep my tone conversational and encouraging.”

This saves time and ensures your voice stays consistent across platforms.

3. Refine and Personalize the Final Draft

Once you have your first draft, don’t just copy and paste it into your website. I like to copy it to a Google doc or a Word Doc and edit it. he I move each section on to the page with some coresponding pictures. Then, ask ChatGPT to make it stronger and truer to you.

Try this prompt if you're unsure if the tone of the page is what you're aiming for:

“Review this landing page draft and adjust it to sound more like me. I want it to feel warm, confident, and creative - like I’m talking to a fellow quilter.”

Try this prompt for SEO and GEO best practices. Note: this may come out weirdly phrased - make sure it sounds natural before you implement the bots suggestions (Learn more in the Blog Post):

“Can you audit this page for readability, keywords, and GEO optimization?”

The result: a landing page that’s both findable and unmistakably yours.

Bringing It All Together

When you combine your human creativity with ChatGPT’s speed, you get a workflow that’s quick, consistent, and true to your brand.

That’s the heart of the Website in a Day framework: simplifying the tech and focusing on what matters most - connection, clarity, and confidence.

From Overwhelmed to Published

Before using AI, I spent weeks tweaking my pages and never felt done. Now, I can map out my goal, feed ChatGPT my brand info, and have a launch-ready landing page in hours - not days.

With AI at your side, you don’t have to do it all alone. But your human touch is what makes it effective.
